Guide: Live Bidding — Rhenumis
Help & Guide

How Our Live Bidding Works

Everything you need at a glance: logging in, accessing the live auction, and how to read and use the live bidding view.

Before You Start: Log In or Register

Before you can bid live, you'll need to log in with your existing login details, or — if you don't yet have an account — register one time.

In addition, you'll need to sign up for live bidding for the specific auction. For this auction, you can do so via the following link:

https://auktion.rhenumis.de/de/account/live-bidding/auction/158

Note: Without logging in or registering beforehand, and without signing up for live bidding for this specific auction, you won't be able to bid during the live auction.

Accessing Live Bidding

Once you're logged in and signed up for the auction, you can reach live bidding via the "Live Bidding" menu item. From there, you'll be taken directly into the auction's live view.

The Left Column

On the left, you can keep track of how the auction is progressing:

  • Upcoming lots — the lots that will be called next.
  • Past lots — lots that have already been called and sold.
  • My winning bids — an overview of the lots you've already won.

You can also hide the left column if you'd like more space for the lot view in the middle.

The Middle Column

In the middle, you'll find all the information about the lot currently being called, as well as the option to bid directly. You'll also see notices here regarding breaks or any incidents during the course of the auction.

The Right Column

On the right, you'll find additional information about the current auction. You can also hide this column if you'd like more space for the lot view.

The Hammer

The auctioneer calls the lot along with the current highest bid. With the words "Going once" and "Going twice," other bidders get one last chance to place a higher bid. With the third call, "Sold," and the fall of the hammer, the lot is sold — making the purchase contract legally binding. The hammer shows you which of these three phases the current lot is in:

1. "Going once" — the first call for a higher bid.

Hammer – going once

2. "Going twice" — the last chance for a higher bid.

Hammer – going twice

3. "Sold" — the fall of the hammer marks the sale; the purchase contract becomes legally binding.

Your Bid

For the current lot, you'll always be able to see:

  • the current bid in the room,
  • the minimum bid you need to place in order to bid,
  • whether you are currently the highest bidder or have been outbid.
Current bid and your own maximum bid

The image shows how you can set a maximum bid: you specify the highest amount you're willing to pay, and the system automatically bids on your behalf up to that amount — so you don't need to react manually every time someone else raises the bid.

As soon as another bidder outbids you, this will be shown accordingly — you can then place a new bid right away, as long as the lot is still open.

Everything else about how an auction is conducted, the hammer, buyer's premium, and payment is set out in our Terms of Auction.
