Interesting lot from four bronze re-casting Pontifical suite medals on the Popes Pelagius I. (556-561), Martin I. (649-653), Johannes V. (685-686) and Stephan V. (885-891), partly with silver remnants on the ground that casting traces or former silvering. Initiated from Mainz-based Archbishop Lothar from Schoenborn (1694-1729) gave Gottlieb Lauffer (1709-1742) in Nuremberg a set from 249 Pope medals from: aversum are the pope busts under credit of the named depicted, reverse in latin inscription Life data and important life like pontificate events. The recasts sway between 20, 88 g and 22, 98 g, the diameter amounts 37, 0 mm. The conditions from almost extremly fine to extremley fine
